The world of Higher education is experiencing rapid change and senior executives are at the forefront of this new wave, striving to respond to fresh challenges and opportunities whilst retaining the best of their legacy values.  

This programme will offer senior executives of universities and colleges key insights, practical tips, best practice case studies and an overview of current trends. It will better equip them to plan ahead and to competently lead their institutions into a new era of higher education. The knowledge gained on the Programme will also help them to significantly raise the profile and reputation of their establishment within the academic community.


 Programme description 

 This five day programme enables you to:

  • Develop a successful strategy for your university with leading higher education specialists
  • Learn techniques that will help you fulfill your organisation's plans with greater efficiency and effect
  • Hear from experts on how to anticipate and creatively respond to new challenges within the HE environment
  • Adopt practical tips that will help you to successfully respond to global influences affecting your university

Programme structure

The programme comprises visits to UK higher education institutions and a number of intensive workshops run by their experts.

  • Effective University Leadership - Key note presentation and workshop session, Prof. Tom Barlett
  • Leadership Efficiency and Management - A session at City University London with its executive team
  • Quality Assurance in Higher Education- A session on Quality Control Exercises with experts at the Quality Assurance Agency [UK main higher education benchmarking institution]
  • Quality Enhancement - A workshop session with senior representatives from the Higher Education Academy [Major mediating body between UK universities, facilitating the sharing of expertise in the sector]
  • Enterprise, Commercialisation of Knowledge and Innovation Management - A workshop at ISIS Innovation [Oxford University's Technology Transfer and Innovation Centre] TBC

Who should attend? 

 This programme is highly recommended for senior executives of universities and colleges including university Presidents and Vice-presidents, Rectors and Vice-Rectors, Vice-Chancellors and Pro-Vice Chancellors as well as college Directors and Deputy Directors. 

  

  

 

 

 

 Duration and Location

This is a five-day programme running from 23-27 June 2014. The main venue will be at Christ Church College, University of Oxford, consisting of four days of practical programmes plus an optional recreational day out.

 Pricing and accommodation

 Registration fee:

  • The full-board registration fee for a five-day programme is £2364. (Programme fee: £1650 + Accommodation and meals: £714).
  • For your convenience, we have made the necessary arrangements for your accommodation and meals in Hawkwell House Hotel (a 4 star hotel based in Oxford).

Certification

Upon completion of the programme, all participants will be awarded a completion certificate by OAED.

Explanatory notes

*Christ Church College - one of the largest colleges in the University of Oxford and the Cathedral Church for the Diocese of Oxford. It was traditionally considered as one of the most aristocratic colleges of the university.

*Quality Assurance Agency – an independent body, offering advice, guidance and support to help UK universities, colleges and other institutions provide the best possible student experience of higher education. It conducts reviews of institutions and publishes reports which highlight good practice and contain recommendations to help improve quality.

*Higher Education Academy – The Higher Education Academy (HEA) is a national body for learning and teaching in higher education. The Academy works with universities and other higher education providers to help bring about change in learning and teaching. Their activities focus on rewarding and recognising excellence in teaching, bringing together people and resources to research and share best practice.

*ISIS Innovation – established by Oxford University as its wholly owned technology transfer company. Isis helps Oxford University researchers to commercialise intellectual property arising from their research: patenting, licensing, spin-out companies. It also manages Oxford University Consulting which helps Oxford University researchers to identify and manage consulting opportunities and helps clients access experts from Oxford's world-class research base. Isis also provides consulting expertise and advice in technology transfer and innovation management to clients across the public.
